Tips on where to surf in Puerto Rico

Whether your clients are aspiring or pro surfers, Puerto Rico has some of the best surfing locations in the Caribbean!

Puerto Rico is the ideal surfing destination: warm waters year-round, fun local surfing culture, and conditions ranging from easy, two-foot waves over a sandy bottom to tall, fast-moving barrels with reef breaks. Surf shops abound, many offering board rentals and lessons, or guided experiences.

The best surfing on the island is around the northwest coast, from Isabela to Rincón, but if your clients only have time to explore San Juan, they will still be able to find spots with exciting waves nearby. From October to February, swells are at the peak, and during the summer, things tend to be calmer. Make sure to recommend beaches in Aguadilla, Isabela, or Luquillo to your clients so they can feel the real magic of Puerto Rico.

Food trails and culinary adventures for your clients

Food-centric road trips around the island are perfect for the wandering foodie or any hungry traveler.
San Juan is a bonafide foodie destination, packed with world-class restaurants and bars, food parks like Lote 23 and the Miramar Food Truck Park, the famous Placita de Santurce, and more. But when visitors leave the metro area, that's where the culinary adventure begins.
Guests can visit coffee haciendas in the mountains, try delicious fritters by the beach washed down with cold beers, and make their own cheese in a town that has more cows than people. These are just a few of the culinary experiences that visitors can find in Puerto Rico. Whether travelers are looking for pork, rum, or fresh seafood, the best way to find it is to hop in a car and hit the road (or to enjoy a local food tour).

Recommend Cueva Ventana: A breathtaking window to the past

Guests can discover the fantastic natural beauty and learn about the history of the island's indigenous people, the Taínos, with a visit to Cueva Ventana, one of Puerto Rico's most famous natural attractions in Arecibo.
Cueva Ventana is part of a natural formation of limestone, known as karst, in the island's north region. There, visitors can find pre-Columbian petroglyphs and stone engravings, hiking trails, and the cave's iconic window-like opening that looks out over the lush surroundings. This cave is one of the most popular destinations on the island for both locals and visitors. Add it to your itinerary list!
