Fort Worth’s Ale Trail

Big and small, Fort Worth has breweries aplenty – and there’s no better way to sample them than on the city’s brilliant Ale Trail. Whether you want to see how a 20,000-barrel-a-year brewer does it, or visit the little guys making waves with unusual beers, there is something to please every kind of drinker on this self-guided city tour.

There are 14 breweries to choose from, including the aptly-named Cowtown which creates beers specifically to complement Texas barbecue, and the relatively young Turning Point Beer, who opened in 2018 and now put unique spins on traditional beers. You clients can expect to drink raspberry and blueberry sours, strong stouts and ‘milkshake style’ IPAs – all with unusual, tongue-in-cheek names.

Beyond beer, there’s even something for those without a nose for hops. Cowtown winery serves up hand-bottled wines with daily discount deals, and Acre Distilling and Coffee Co. has one of the finest tasting rooms in the country, where small-batch bourbons, gins and vodkas all share the shelf behind the bar.

Getting cultural in Fort Worth

Who says cowboys can’t be cultured? Fort Worth might once have been a classic country western setting, but today it’s a cosmopolitan city with cultural abundance. The Cultural District in Fort Worth has all manner of intriguing museums, from world-class art to science and history – and it’s all within a park-like setting so your clients can easily hop from one to the next.

Travelers will find the likes of Goya, Rembrandt and Matisse in the Kimbell Art Museum; the Amon Carter Museum of American Art is a Fort Worth institution, with artists like Frederic Church and Georgia O'Keeffe sitting side-by-side on the walls; and Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock hold the fort at the Modern Art Museum.

Exploring the historic Fort Worth Stockyards

Fort Worth was built on back of the 19th-century cattle drives, in which 10 million of the bovine beasts were driven along the Chisholm Trail that passed through here. Today, the city’s cowboy history is immortalised in the Stockyards, where Western clothing shops and saloons line the historic streets.

You clients can live out their cowboy fantasies here, eating in the area’s old-school steakhouses and meeting the resident long-horned cattle that live behind the old Livestock Exchange. Twice a day, the herd comes out to being the Old West to life as real Texas cowboys drive them down East Exchange Avenue.

For nights out, your clients shouldn’t miss the world’s largest Honky Tonk, and kids will love the Stockyards petting zoo and winding their way through the Cowtown Cattlepen Maze. There’s something for everyone at the Stockyards.
